This site represents a community for disabled motorists. It covers discussions over a number of related topics . In particular, it provides an easy way to report misuse of disabled parking facilities and of Blue Badges.
IN OUR OPINION, THE BEST PEOPLE TO COLLECT THIS EVIDENCE IS THE PEOPLE MOST AFFECTED BY THE ABUSE. IN OTHER WORDS, US, THE DISABLED MOTORISTS.
It is our intention to provide a prototype, demonstration system to capture abuse of disabled parking privileges of all kinds, to capture evidence of such abuse and to lobby for prosecution of such offences. If our experience is typical, confronting anybody who is guilty of this is generally met with open hostility. Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised. These people are generally obnoxious, thoughtless and self-obsessed.
We hope that use of this site should allow people to avoid confrontation. Stay safe.
We are also acutely aware that some disabilities are not obvious. Many people with such 'hidden' conditions are often unfairly accused of blue badge abuse. By discouraging confrontation and allowing members to register their blue badge number with us, we hope to reduce such unwarranted accusations.
Current practices recognises that parking in a disabled parking bay without a valid blue badge is NOT a road traffic offence unless it is on a public road or council parking facility. However, it is our opinion that repeated abuse of this type represents anti-social behaviour. Anti social behaviour can represent a prosecutable offence even when on private US, property.
The site is under development at present. Current, photographic evidence is random images used in the production process. We welcome test users registering on the site and trying the submission page but we prefer they use real examples of parking abuse so that we can assess whether the site could be effective.
Registration details such as your email address will only be used to help us eliminate hoax users, eliminate reports against genuinely disabled people and ensure that reported offences are genuine.
